The gondolier's uniform has two versions the summer and the winter.Granted that the shoes and the trousers must be black all year round, the summer uniform consists of a t-shirt or polo with blue and white or red and white stripes.
Over the t-shirt, a light white mariners jacket called a marinera can be worn.
The winter version foresees the use of a jumper with blue and white or red and white stripes, over which can be worn a navy blue or black coloured marinerís jacket also called a marinera.
The gondolierís headwear usually consists of a hat made of straw and is decorated with a coloured ribbon; in winter this is subsituted with a dark blue beret with a pompom.
In fact, now in complete disuse is the rigid headwear with visor that the privately empoyed gondoliers used to wear, as are the armbands.
